1Watch out! Buyer Beware!Dec 08, 2009
I bought what I thought was a Montblanc pen through one of Amazon's 'sellers'. I spent almost 300.00 on it for my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary, in December of 2008. The body of the pen cracked, and we sent it to Montblanc for repair. They sent it back, telling us they wouldn't repair it because it wasn't a Montblanc pen. So, my husband ended up with a worthless cracked pen, and by that time the 'seller' was long gone. I got nothing back, was told the A-Z refund guarantee had expired. I was also told (by a Montblanc rep) that the only place you can buy a genuine Montblanc pen is from a Montblanc dealer. So beware, I got stuck with a 2.00 pen that cost me almost 300.00. I was not given any type of a refund, credit, nothing. I'm still very upset about this.

1Overrated Big TimeJul 06, 2009
I have owned two other Montblanc Pens (from the 1990's) and fairly recently purchased this one. Something in the twisting mechanism went wrong and I sent it to Mont Blanc and they wanted $86 to repair since I did not but it from an authorized dealer. It was obvious to me that there quality has gone way down (my other 2 from the 90's are still working fine) and I think it stinks they want more $ to repair something that even a cheap pen would probably not do. Surprisingly I bought a similar type pen from Cross and I like it better and it works and it was a lot cheaper!

1not recommending this vendorMay 20, 2009
I would be hesitant to recommend this vendor to anyone. I placed an order for the timely gift for this items but when I tried to confirm the purchase order and to change of the shipping address no responses from the vendor. I had to make a huge effort to verify my order and the delivery status. It was not only took longer and it was delivered with torn package. My mistake was I did not know the differences between the Amazon backed vendors and the simply listed in Amazon vendors.... I wonder that anybody can post them selves as vendor in Amazon? or they have to go through some sort of screening process to be listed on Amazon?

4Overpriced - You're buying a name, not a penApr 06, 2009
I own several Montblancs along with other luxury brand pens. These I purchased early on in my pen collecting before I was more knowledgeable. One thing is there are a lot of identical fakes out there. Montblanc says their pens are made of 'precious resin' this is a fancy description for plastic. But the real pens do have a warmer, quality feel to them than your average pen. However compared to other luxury brand pens in the same price range, such as S.T. Dupont, OMAS, Visconti, Cartier, etc., these pens are comparatively overpriced, although not by much. Pens are quite a niche and your average consumer is only familiar with Office supply brands (Bic, Papermate) or this brand. So people feel owning a Montblanc solidifies their status in the world. I did have a problem with one and Montblanc required proof of purchase from an Authorized Dealer, which I lost so I had to pay $55 for the repair which would have been free had I kept the proof of purchase. By from an Authorized Dealer and keep your proof of purchase - you never know what's going to happen or if other places are selling fakes! The Montblanc Limited Editions are usually a good investment. Just don't use them or else you'll lower their value!
